David McCullough, the historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning author, recently visited Episcopal Academy, according to a report from the Delaware County News Network.
McCullough shared his background, research, and writing method with students. He also spoke about his take on education, history, and the human spirit.
After speaking to students, faculty, and other special guests in the Class of 1944 Chapel, McCullough took questions from students, who asked about his work.
“I have never undertaken a subject I knew much about,” said McCullough.
As an example, he said he had no idea he wanted to write about history when he graduated from college as an English major.
“The process of learning does not end with the commencement from college,” he told students. “It’s just getting started.”
He “reinforced the indispensable value of a good education, opening our eyes to the importance of a firm understanding of our history and the power of a mastery of the English language,” said senior Elle Ruggiero.
