Epidemic, the first movie directed by Haverford resident Stephen Michael Giglio, will be released this month, writes Linda Stein for the Delaware County News Network.
The horror film starts as a family drama that focuses on an estranged father who shows up at his daughter’s 30th birthday party to make amends. However, things soon take a horrific turn when an epidemic started by a deadly pathogen starts spreading, making him fight to save his daughter’s life.
Giglio wrote the screenplay together with co-producer Adam Romanchik, his childhood friend.
“We wanted to work on something together,” said Giglio. “We were going back and forth on ideas. My idea was instead of finding the horror, let’s find a really great story.”
Giglio, who graduated from the University of the Arts, has worked at Breaking Glass Pictures in Philadelphia for the last four years, editing film trailers. The studio partly financed his picture, with additional funding coming from family and a crowdfunding campaign.
Epidemic will stream online on iTunes and Amazon Prime. It will also be available on DVD and Blue Ray.
