Orlando Tucker, the renowned hip-hop producer and songwriter known as Jahlil Beats, is using Kognition, a Manayunk-based startup that offers security system software, to create a safe zone in Chester’s downtown, writes Diane Mastrull for the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Tucker partnered with Ra-Tah Johnson and David “Doobie” Elliott to start the development company Tandem Real Estate Holdings. Their current projects include a sneaker store, clothing boutique, diner, and apartments on Avenue of the States.
A block over is also a state-of-the-art “command center” that will be equipped with a number of cameras powered through a minimum of $1 million in Kognition technology.
Kognition’s artificial-intelligence, facial-recognition software offers real-time threat alerts when suspicious activity is detected. It can then take action using smart devices, such as locking the doors if a shooter is detected in a building.
“If you want to have thriving businesses and if you want the employees from the actual community to be safe, you have to have security,” said Tucker. “It’s a no-brainer.”
